Privacy Policy for Browser Automation Recorder Chrome Extension

Thank you for using the Browser Automation Recorder Chrome Extension („the Extension“). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
1. Information We Collect
The Extension is designed to help you record your interactions with websites to assist in creating browser automations. To achieve this, the Extension collects the following types of data only when you explicitly start a recording session:
- User Activity: Information about the actions you perform on a webpage during a recording session, specifically:
- Click events on HTML elements.
- Change events on input fields and text areas (capturing the final value entered).
- Website Content: Details about the HTML elements you interact with during a recording session, including:
- Element tag names (e.g.,
button,input). - Element attributes (e.g.,
id,class,name,aria-label,placeholder,data-testid,href,src). - Generated CSS selectors (various types) and XPath selectors for the interacted elements.
- Short snippets of the visible text content (
innerText) of interacted elements.
- Element tag names (e.g.,
- Web History (Limited): The URL of the web page you are on at the moment an interaction is recorded during an active recording session. This is collected solely to provide context for the recorded step. The Extension does not track your general browsing history outside of active recording sessions.
The Extension does NOT collect:
- Personally identifiable information (like your name, email address, etc.) unless you explicitly type it into a field during a recording session.
- Authentication information (passwords, security questions, PINs).
- Financial or payment information.
- Health information.
- Personal communications (emails, chats).
- Your precise location.
2. How We Use Your Information
The data collected by the Extension is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- To record the sequence of your interactions during an active recording session.
- To generate detailed selector information for the elements you interact with.
- To display the recorded steps, including URLs, actions, values, and selectors, back to you within the Extension’s popup window after you stop recording.
3. Data Storage
All data collected by the Extension during a recording session is stored locally on your computer using the browser’s chrome.storage.local API. This data is not transmitted to any external servers, databases, or third parties. It remains on your device until you clear your browser’s storage for the extension or uninstall the Extension.
4. Data Sharing and Transfer
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer any data collected by the Extension to any third parties. The data is stored locally and is not shared externally.
We do not use or transfer the collected data for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s core functionality (recording and displaying your browser interactions).
We do not use or transfer the collected data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
5. Data Security
Since the data is stored locally on your device using standard browser mechanisms, its security relies on the security of your own computer and browser environment.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
